Dan Carter's much anticipated introduction to Racing 92 fans has been put on hold after French authorities postponed Sunday's (NZT) match between the Paris-based side and Toulouse.
Carter's contract with his new club begins in December and although the 33-year-old first five-eighth was not going to play in the ChampionsCup clash, he was expected to be introduced to Racing 92 fans during the game at Stade de France.
The rescheduling of the match comes in the wake of the Paris terror attacks, which saw all of last weekend's Champions Cup fixtures postponed, including Sunday's game between Racing 92 and the Glasgow Warriors.
A post on the club's Facebook page made fans aware that the game has been rescheduled to take place on November 28.
"We have just been warned by the public authorities that the match Racing 92 vs Toulouse will not take place at the Stade de France," the post read.
"We will give you more information as soon as possible on the future place of the meeting to be held on Saturday 28 November to 14 h45 as well as on the conditions of repayment."
Carter is understood to be leaving New Zealand for France today, to join Racing 92 on a lucrative three-year deal reportedly worth about $3 million a season.
Earlier this week, Carter said it had been difficult not to think of the horrific events of the Paris attacks ahead of his family's arrival in the French capital.
"It's hard not to avoid that, but I haven't really thought too much about it apart from the fact our thoughts go out to all the people living in Paris. It's such a tragic moment," Carter told 3News.
He has previously played for French club Perpignan in the 2007-08 season, during a New Zealand Rugby sanctioned sabbatical, before he ruptured an Achilles tendon a few matches into the contract.
