Records fall in White Ferns win over West Indies

The White Ferns have shredded the record books on their way to a 106-run thrashing of the West Indies in the second women's Twenty20 international in Mount Maunganui.

Amy Satterthwaite (71 not out) and wicketkeeper Katey Martin (65) compiled the highest partnership in New Zealand women's T20I history, putting on 124 at Bay Oval.

It equalled the world record for the highest third-wicket stand.

Both faced just 42 balls each as they lifted the hosts to 185-3.

The West Indies failed to match their dynamic batting of their loss in the first game, limping home to 79-8.

It was New Zealand's biggest win by runs in their T20I history and the second- biggest by any team.

Earlier, White Ferns opener Sophie Devine was dropped off the first ball of the game and went on to reach 27.

The world class allrounder followed that with the game's best figures of 3-12 off three overs.

New Zealand, who swept the one-day international series 3-0, can clinch the five-match T20I honours if successful in game three in New Plymouth on Tuesday.
