If you're having a bad day, at least it's probably nothing compared to this guy.

The owner of a rare supercar valued at about $2 million has seen their beloved car smashed into utter disrepair.

The Koenigsegg CCXR Special Edition supercar is said to be one of only two of its kind ever made.

The flashy turquoise-coloured vehicle was originally built specifically for the Qatari royal family, according The Drive. But the new owner apparently hasn't had long to enjoy it after acquiring it about six months ago.

Pictures posted to social media show the supercar — capable of reaching top speeds of nearly 400km/h — sitting on the side of a major avenue in Mexico City following an accident on Sunday afternoon.

The driver was reportedly unhurt, and it's unclear what caused the accident. A number of passers-by posted photos of the crash on social media.

A huge tear and hole can be seen in the carbon fibre bodywork, as well as major damage to the passenger side door. The back left wheel can be seen out of place and the front right axle was sticking out to the side.

The car will need a very expensive repair job — that is if it can be salvaged and restored.

The rare super vehicle was built in 2009 for the Al-Thani royal family but was put on the market in 2011.

It's believed to have been bought in August 2018 by its current owner who shipped it to Mexico. Following the accident, local media reported it belonged to a billionaire Mexican businessman but he denied the claim on Twitter.

An Instagram account by a user named don_koenigsegg based in Mexico City has been posting photos of the car driving the streets of the city for the past few months. The account has more than 46,000 followers.

There have been no Instagram updates since the crash.
