Waikato Guineas candidates Charliehorse and Congaline turned in good trials for the weekend when they galloped at Matamata yesterday.

Working on a fast plough, Charliehorse (C. Ormsby) was accompanied by Belle Of Marju (Rastrick) over 1200m in 1:18, the final 600m in 37.4. Charliehorse, who will be ridden on Saturday
by Jason Waddell, appears to have trained on well from his last start win.

Congaline (Sapsworth) also pleased when he went with Shikoba (Upston) over 1200m in 1:16, finishing off in a smart 35.8. Noel Harris has the mount in the three-year-old feature.

Promising maiden Kurabeel (O'Sullivan) worked in good style when partnering Skara Brae (Rastrick) over 1200m in 1:16.9, the last 600 in 36.5. The Trickster (Tanner) and Kays Awake (McKeon) were in good form over 1000m in 1:02.5 and 600m in 36.

Inshelucky (Nattrass) was impressive when she gave Volscar (M. Innes) a start and finished alongside at the end of 1000m in 1:02.6 and the last 600 in 35.2.

New Zealand Bloodstock Classique entrant Redbreb (T. Harris) was travelling well with Soelin (Sapsworth) after a smart 1000m in 1:03 and 600 in 35.6. Race rival Jesterchine (O'Sullivan) was more restrained over the same distance in 1:08.8 and 39.6, while Jokers Wild (Coleman) took 1:05.5 and 37.4.

Lady Classique (T. Harris) and Terroir (Sapsworth), two more candidates for the $500,000 race, left 1000m behind in 1:04.2, the last 600m in 36.

South Island visitor Muy Bueno (Teggert) went with Total Control (Hillis) over 1200m in 1:16.8, the 600 in 37.2. In similar work Upsetthym (Dowling) clocked 1:16 and 37.2, Diamond Princess (P. Ormsby) and Tinkerbeel (Dowling) 1:16.5 and 36.9, and Adelariva (Coleman) and Tyson (McKeon) 1:17.2 and 37.

Kerry O'Reilly (Cheshire) looked bright in his work with Bankside Boy (A. Carston), clocking 1:18 for 1200m and 36.9 for the final section. Xcellent (Coleman) was not after time over 1200m in 1:16, the last 1000 in 1:03.9 and 600 in 37.

Stablemate Genebel (Andrew) returned 1:21.6 and 37.2, while Zarius (T. Harris) took 1:18.2 and 38, Olympic Light (Ihaka) and Sweet Wine (Melton) 1:18.5 and 37.2, and Grand Legacy (Waddell) 1:20.2 and 37.3.

Pelagic (Coleman) and Romeod (C. Thornton) did sound work over 1000m in 1:01.8, the final 600m in 36.9. Wings On Fire (Pender) ran the same distance in 1:04.4 and 37.5, Viaggio (Sliz) 1:05 and 36.2, and Smartway (T. Thornton) 1:01.4 and 36.2.

Everswindell (Ritchie) and Overflow (Waddell) ran their 1000m in 1:04.6, the last 600 in 37.1. Strides (C. Thornton) and Boy Wonder (K. Jones) worked evenly over 1000m in 1:03.5, the last 600 in 37.5.

Illicitly (Dowling) and Classy Belle (Ramsay) ran good time over 1200m in 1:14.9, the last 600m in 36.7. Patrol (P. Brosnan) was more restrained in 1:26.8 and 41.4

* A smart gallop by Honeymoonzova provided the highlight in training at Pukekohe yesterday.

Using a firm plough, Ima Tycoon went 1400m, the last 1200 with Honemoonzova, who was clear in the finish in 1:14.4, the last 600 in 36.7.

Single Malt worked off from the 1200m and ran the last 1000 in 1:8.6 and 600 in 38.5.

Al Vialli and Co-Operator went 1000m, timed for the final 600 in 39.4.

On a good sand, Starkiwi sprinted 1000m under a fair weight in 1:3, the final 600 in 37.3.

Abbey Drive and Cross Lease finished 12000m in 1:15.9, steadying for the last 600 in 39.

Domineco and Mr Jinky quickened a little for the last 600 in 39.2. Gallions Reach strode 1000m in 1:10.5, the last 600 in 42.7
