Racing: Vasil shrugs off classy colt's wide draw

Melbourne trainer Tony Vasil is not concerned the $200,000 Railway favourite Not A Single Doubt has drawn barrier 10 for New Zealand's premier sprint.

The classy Australian colt will jump from barrier 8 if the field remains intact - second emergency Sunlaw has gate 5 and sixth emergency Sarah Vee drew barrier 2.

"Yeah, I'm not too concerned, it won't be a problem" said Vasil.

Sydney sprinter Recurring, who has been similarly well backed, drew 12 and will jump from 9 if there are no scratchings.

Her trainer Gerald Ryan said the plan was always going to be to ride Recurring back in the field where she prefers.

"If you are going to drop back, you're better off in the middle of the field than on the rails, where you can get jammed up."

Vasil said Not A Single Doubt had come through his solo gallop between races at Ellerslie on Tuesday in great shape.

"He was bouncing off the track this morning."

TAB bookie Paul Lally eased Not A Single Doubt from $4 to $4.25 because of the barrier draw.

"Although it probably won't make much difference."

He also shortened up Miss Potential to a tight $8 quote.

"When she drew No 1, I can see her ping out and away she goes.

"She finished just behind Starcraft at Hastings and that's great form."

Matamata trainer Jim Gibbs is the worst affected by yesterday's Railway barrier draw - Vaalu drew 13 and Devoted 18.

Melbourne stayer Bondy is the big mover in the $350,000 Auckland Cup, coming in to $8 because of the heavy liability the TAB has in doubles with his stablemate Not A Single Doubt.

"We've made Garrard clear favourite.

"We eased Waitoki Dream out a little because he's a good result for us and we're balancing our books."

Anticipating that rain could affect the Ellerslie track, the TAB shortened Tantalic's price.
