The well-related Manhattan Street is progressing well along the path to a return to black type competition.
Trainer Lisa Latta said the close relative to the multiple group one-winner Lankan Rupee is on target to resume in the group three Inglis Sale Cambridge Breeders' Stakes at the end of themonth, providing underfoot conditions are to suit.
"He's had a couple of jump-outs and I'm looking at kicking him off in that three-year-old race at Te Rapa on April 29. "I'll be keeping an eye on the weather though, he needs a wet track."
Manhattan Street showed his liking for rain-affected going when he was unbeaten in his first three starts last season, including the Ryder Stakes.
He suffered his first defeat when runner-up in his three-year-old debut behind Highlad in the Wanganui Guineas before connections decided to try their luck in Australia.
Unfortunately, Manhattan Street struck a good track at Moonee Valley and tailed the field home in the Stutt Stakes. He promptly returned home and following another below-par effort in the Wellington Guineas Trial at Trentham he was spelled. "He was getting quite heavy so we gelded him and he's come back well, he has grown a lot," Latta said.
Stablemate Mighty Solomon's presence at the Waikato meeting will also depend on the weather, but by contrast he needs reasonable ground.
