Sand Gate looked ready for back-to-back Te Rapa wins when he galloped stylishly at Matamata yesterday.

On the course proper which was heavy 20 metres out, Sand Gate was travelling well alongside River Chief at the end of 1000m in 1:14.8, quickening over the final 600m in 38.6. It is
several weeks since Sand Gate cleared maiden company at Te Rapa but he seems primed to run another bold 1600 metres.

Hpnotiq rounded off her preparation for the Ryder Stakes at Otaki with a well held 1000m in 1:13.2, the last 600m in 42.4. Realign did similar work to record 1:16.5 and 43.2, while Cut The Cake strode over 1200m in 1:28.8, the 600 in 43.

Amira and Toocoolforyou ran in from the 800m in 52.4, with the last 600 taking 39. Tunes Of Glory ran the same distance in 1:03 and 45.5, while Blue Tsunami covered 1000m in 1:10.2, the 600 in 44.2.

On the sand which was easy, Madamvizelle turned in a sound trial for Te Rapa with 1000m in 1:07.7, the last 600m in 37.8. Dr Klaire prepared for the weekend with 1200m in 1:21.2, the 600 in 37.

Multi Tasker was untroubled to run 1200m in 1:20.9, the last 600 in 39.2, while stablemate Hi Yo Wassup covered the same ground in 1:26.5 and 39.6. They are headed for Riccarton next week.

Goldsinga cut out 1200m in 1:27, quickening for a final 600m in 38.5. Xcellent showed his progress with 1200m in 1.25.3, the last 600m in 41.5.

Clean Sweep got through 1000m in 1:08.8, the 600 in 41.6, while Eloa ran her last 800m in 59 and 600 in 45.2.

Galaxy Invader and Pineau worked over 1000m in 1:10.8, the 600 in 39.2. Find An Oasis covered the same ground in 1:13.4 and 42.6, while Algorithm and The Shoe took 1:16.4 and 41.3.

On the all-weather track, Pirate Dancer looked ready for the Ryder Stakes when allowed an easy 1000m in 1:15.9, the 600 in 45.8. Private Witness had more speed on, clocking 1:07.2 and 37.2. for the same trip.

Upsetthym was keen to go faster when allowed to breeze home over the final 600m of her work. She is making good progress.

Johnnie Yetton returned an outstanding final trial for the Ryder Stakes at Takanini yesterday.

Working 6m out on a heavy No 2 grass, the 2-year-old sprinted 600m in 38.2, excellent time in the conditions. He revelled in his work and should be hard to beat at Otaki.

Taumarunui Cup runner Tantalic galloped 1200m in 1:21.6, the last 600 in 40.4.

Rival Expectalite was given an easier 1200m, taking 1:26.5 though he quickened for the last 600 in 40.4.

Rue Jolie was travelling nicely outside of Ocean Rules finishing 1200m in 1:21.5, the final 600 in 39.8.

She's So Cavalier promised another solid race at Te Rapa by the way she ended 1000m in 1:7, the last 600 in 40.

Waltzmydear, a maiden prospect, covered 600m under a nice hold in 41.7. Kazarokin, unbeaten in his only two races, looked fit striding twice round on the sand.

Chocaholic looked ready to exit maiden class after another encouraging workout at Cambridge. Working on the No.2 grass, which provided soft footing, Chocaholic completed l000m in l:5, the final section smartly in 36.8. She is an acceptor for Te Rapa.

Red Flash looked in good order when covering l000m in l:6.4, the final 600m in 37.9. Rathowen was given a comfortable l000m in l:l3, the final 600m in 43.l.

Garden Party returned l:8.l for l000m, coming home in 40.6. Gold Memba did well late in the session when sprinting 600m in 38.7.

James Scott took 4l.2 for 600m. Paula Maroof did similar work and Orpington looked to be coming to hand well in his new preparation when sprinting 600m in 39.8.
