Dr Klaire and Roaring Jake worked well in preparation for weekend racing during a fog-bound session at Matamata yesterday.

Galloping on a good sand, Dr Klaire had pace on throughout 1200m in 1:16.7, with the last 1000m in 1:02.8. Another Te Rapa candidate, Roaring Jake, was working well at the
end of 1200m in 1:20.8, the last 1000m in 1:04.6.

Melanie prepared for Te Rapa when running a smart 1200m with Hi Yo Wassup in 1:15.2. Over the same ground Vinopolis, an entrant for Otaki, finished strongly in 1:23.8.

Xcellent looked well when covering 1000m in 1:04.2. He is coming to hand well. Goldsinga got through 1200m in 1:24.2 and 1000m in 1:03.5.

Shymaa was kept to 1:15.6 over 1000m, while Find An Oasis ran 1200m in 1:25.2.

On the course proper, which was heavy, Hpnotiq, Ex Factor and Pirate Dancer all worked soundly in preparation for the Ryder Stakes at Otaki. Realign also hit out well in preparation for early spring 3-year-old racing. Fog prevented any times being taken.

Two-year-old Johnnie Yetton and maiden Ruta's Gift galloped impressively together at Takanini.

Working 5m out on a heavy No 2 grass, Johnnie Yetton and Ruta's Giftfinished 1000m in 1:4.8, the last 600 in 39.3.

Johnnie Yetton will contest the Ryder Stakes. Ruta's Gift will debut at Te Rapa.

Waltzmydear was travelling nicely in the finish of 1000m in 1:6.3, the last 600 in 39.7.

Rue Jolie and Montreal Gold completed 1200m in 1:19.2, the last 600 in 39.4.

Taumarunui Cup runner Tantalic ran the last 1200m of 1600 in 1:20.1 and 600 in 40.3. A rival, Expectalite, covered the final 1200m of similar work in 1:21 and 600 in 39.4.

Vivaldi's Pride and Inspector galloped 1200m in 1:22.6, the last 600 strongly in 39.

Gold Memba returned the quickest gallop of the morning at Cambridge, when working on a soft No.2 grass 5 metres out.

Gold Memba hit out freely over l000m in l:4.l, sprinting the final 600m in 35.9.

Shanghai Breezes, who made an impressive debut at Ellerslie, worked strongly over l000m in l:4.2, the last 600m in 38.l. Fin In Gold and Flux Capacitor were together throughout l000m in l:7, the final section oin 37. Chocoholic left l200m behind in l:l7.2, coming home in 38.8. Tattinger completed l200m in l:2l.5, the last 600m in 39.l.

I'm Insatiable looked fit for Te Rapa when galloping l000m with stablemate Viz Vitae in l:7, the concluding 600m in 37.l.

Sydviscious came in from the l200m in l:22, the final 600m in 40. Rathowen and Spectrac matched strides over l200m, coming home the last 600m in 38.9. Willandra Prince took l:6.4 for l000m, the 600m in 37.9.

Working on the sand Iolana sprinted the final 600m of work in 37.3. Tuscany Flyer and Swordsman were paired over 600m in 4l.

The Old Coot was sent an easy 600m in 44. Prince McCoy reeled off 600m in 4l.4 and Straight Fromtheheart was comfortable throughout 600m in 43.

To Hell And Back worked nicely at Te Awamutu.

Working on the outside of a soft No. 1 grass, To Hell And Back went fast early, running the 1000 in 1:4.1, tje 600 in 38.1.Mickey Mantel took 1:7.1 for his 1000, the 600 in 40.5. Mr Hefner ran a leisurely 1000 in 1:9.7, the 600 in 39.3.

Lord Spectrum ran 600 in 38.2.

On the sand, Tiglio covered 1000 in 1:7.1, the 600 in 38.6. The Breaker ran 1000 in 1:10.5, the 600 in 41.4.
