Racing: Royal turn on Melbourne's big day

The Melbourne Cup was once again about the fashion - as well as the races - as thousands turned out to celebrate in Auckland and across the Ditch.

Celebrities including Samantha Hayes were spotted at Ellerslie Racecourse yesterday.

Across the Tasman thousands turned out to catch a glimpse of Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

The Prince chatted briefly with members of the public as the couple arrived at Flemington. The Duchess looked stunning in a cream suit with a matching hat.
