If the Sarten Stakes comes down to experience Bounding should win. She does everything perfectly by racing on the speed, she has a great sprint and does not lack heart. At this level that's a winning combination, but she faces all sorts of talent around her this time, like Allez Eagle, who lacks her experience but not her talent.
Pay attention to this race, the form will be used right through the season.
Lady Cumquat (R6) will have benefited from her stylish placings at Te Rapa and Avondale and looks on the verge of a win. Beauty Show, Hot In Pink and Aaja Nachle are all talented.
Costume (R9) looked a certainty at Te Aroha on Wednesday. She won and won well coming from last, but perhaps just a shade less impressively late than expected.
She is backing up quickly and with 58.5kg there could be a slight vulnerability about her. You could take the view that the Te Aroha conditions didn't quite suit because she is talented, but it's worth noting. Domineer gets 2kg off Costume and that could prove significant.
In this first half of the season it's not easy for 3-year-olds to meet the older horses at level weights, but it's difficult to deny Burnt Orange (R9) after seconds in the Wanganui Guineas and Bonecusher Stakes. He gets to the line strongly.
