She jumps from 1400m to 1600m and although the class is stronger this time, it is not out of the ballpark.
Precious Time has always looked like a mare on the way through to a tight assessment.
This is one of the most open races on the programme, which is full of tough contests. Fresh-up runner Options, Cong'er and Atom Cat are all place chances, the last two particularly if the rain arrives.
Local Gronyx (No13, R1) could be a decent each way to start the day. He didn't have all favours last start after a good debut third. The outside draw should not be too much of an issue from the 1600m start at Matamata. This field is very open.
Schrodingers Cat (No4, R2) flew home to finish second to a good sort on debut then wrecked his last appearance with a slow getaway. He still got to the line okay late and might not need a huge amount of luck to win this. Lady Chapel (No7) and Universal (No12) have both drawn well.
Universal tried stakes class last time and will find this easier.
Sigarsa (No3, R4) showed ability in one start as a juvenile last season. He was then spelled and has won a trial since coming back. The inside barrier is certain to help.
Barney (No4, R5) displayed a heap of staying ability as a 3-year-old last season and has not raced since finishing unplaced in the Derby. He has won a recent barrier trial and is the type to produce something flash here. Keep him safe, particularly in multiple bets.
Roger James has a massive chance in Race 6 with Spinmyworld (No8), Splitsecond (No6) and Rasteau (No3) engaged. Probably not a lot between the trio, but Spinmyworld is a definite improver. He is a gross type, but his two runs this preparation should have him getting close to his form.
Bruce Almighty (No2, R7) was unlucky not to win at Ellerslie last start when a gap closed on him at the 220m. The wide draw here looks ugly, but if he gets any luck at all he can be in this on his current rating.
Storming The Tower (No5) is the form horse and has a nice barrier.
Jockey Masa Tanaka, recently back from Japan, has a sharp chance in the final two races on his home track today. Allanah (No7, R9) has been a winner for him previously and should be a quick improver from her recent trials performer. Whosyourmaster (No8) is a big danger.
In the last, Danvega (No6, R10) can win another for Mark Anderson. Danvega is underrated and although slightly further than 2000m would suit better, he should not be left out.
Interstate plans are firmly on the agenda for Poste Restante if she performs up to the expectations of trainer Desleigh Forster at Doomben today.
Poste Restante has her first start for Forster after she campaigned during the winter carnival when prepared by New Zealand trainer Howie Mathews.
"I've had her since she came back into work after her winter spell and, although I'm still learning about her, she's a lovely-natured mare and I'm very happy with the way she's going," Forster said.
Poste Restante will resume in a race for mares where she will be ridden by Ric McMahon from the outside alley.
Although the 1200m trip is short of Poste Restante's preferred distance range, Forster expects the mare to perform well first-up. "I've kept her on the fresh side and these good stayers usually race well first-up so I wouldn't be surprised if she ran a forward race," she said.
"Her fresh record is good and I'll be more than happy if she's running on strongly at the finish."
