Congaline and Olympic Light looked good prospects to assist Mark Walker in his attempt at the trainers' premiership on the weekend when they galloped at Matamata yesterday.

Intermittent but heavy fog hindered the timing of many gallops.

Working on a good sand, Congaline (Walker) and Olympic Light (T. Harris) had
pace on from the start of 1200m and cut out the distance in 1:15.6.

They could be timed only over the last 1000m in 1:02.8, but were in full flight and travelling well at the finish.

Congaline in particular appears to have trained on well since his impressive win at Ruakaka 10 days ago. Provided conditions are reasonable, he will take a lot of beating in the R83 1600 at Te Rapa on Saturday.

Another last start winner, Wilrock (Waddell), worked well when partnering Serve To Lead (Ritchie) over 1000m in 1:01.5, the last 600m in 35.8. Tenjuberrymud (A. Carston) looked well in his work over 1200m in 1:18.2 and 600m in 37.6.

A week out from his reappearance at the Te Teko trials, Darci Brahma (Walker) hit out in good style over 1000m in 1:08.9, quickening attractively as he was allowed to stretch out over the final stages.

Another for Te Teko, Pentane (O'Sullivan), did similar work and was timed from the 600m in 38.8. Shikoba (T. Harris) covered 1200m in 1:22.5 and 1000m in 1:08.2, while Maroofity (Hain) ran his 1000m in 1:06 and 600m in 40.9 and Arlingtonboulevard (Sapsworth) clocked 1:07.4 and 38.6.

Calveen (Rastrick) took 1:16.6 in a well contained 1000m. Chessee (J. Collett) could only be timed over 1200m in 1:23.8, and Soelin (Walker) and Titan Prince (Sapsworth) took 1:21.2.

Bold Contact (Gorham) and Tyson (R. Jones) cut out 1000m in 1:08.2, while Monica's Legacy (Colgan) and De Gaulle David (Rastrick) took 1:14.2.

On the all-weather track Jokers Wild (J. Collett) came from the 800m in 56.5 and the 600m in 40.5. The Shoe (Davidson) and Detention (J. Collett) ran the same trip in 53.2 and 38.4.

No times could be taken on the course proper, but Bonnie Parker, Stone Garden, Kenadaad, Spectralia and Realign all appeared to be working well over the final stages of their assignments.

Kristov (T.Thornton) was allowed to quicken in his work on the all-weather track.

The broken jaw he suffered 11 days ago is not bothering him and he is on track for next weeks Te Teko trials.

* Bobby Dazzler and Asama showed impressive speed in training at Pukekohe yesterday.

Working on the inside of a dead No 1 grass, Bobby Dazzler (Ralston) and Asama (Allwood) cut out 1000m in 1:00.7, the last 800 in 48.4 and 600 in 36.8.

Both horses finished second in their last start, at Avondale on July 1, and promise to go one placing better at Te Rapa on Saturday.

Packsapunch (Hapeta) and Moroa (Judy Collett) completed 1000m in 1:3.3, the last 600 in 36.7.

Miss Ivy (Hutchinson) finished 1000m in 1:2.6, the last 800 in 49.8 and 600 in 36.1.

Mandela (Fearon) was timed for the last 800m of 1000 in 50 and 600 in 37.2.

On the all-weather sand, The Sportsman (Prangley) and Gold Circle (Weston-Arnold) covered 1200m in 1:25.5, gradually increasing pace to run the final 600 in 38.8.

Ngahiiti (Udy), backed and beaten last time out, did two rounds of strong pacework.

She could race at Te Rapa given a reasonable winter track.

* Taking the Mickey galloped attractively at Cambridge yesterday morning when preparing for Te Rapa this weekend.

Working on the No.2 grass, which was heavy, Taking the Mickey (Cheshire) strode freely over 1000m in 1:7, sprinting the concluding 600m in 39.4. He looks an improver following an encouraging last-start third.

Goldconda (Brierley) worked over 1200m in 1:21.5, running the final 600m in 40.9. Bringbackthebiff (Hills) cruised 1400m in 1:41, completing the final section in 40.8. Shereigns (McVean) hit out stylishly over 1200m in 1:21.1, dashing the final 600m in 38.9. Myths and Legends (Hofmann) was clocked from the 800m in 52. Danzstar (Griffin) looked in good order when covering 1000m in 1:7.1, coming home in 39.2.

Twochiefsoneindian (Norvall) was sent 1600m, sprinting the final 600m in 40.1. Mr Hefner (Elliot) , a recent hurdles winner, completed the final 1000m of his work in 1:9, finishing off in 42.3.

Working on the sand Figure of Speech (Brancacova) completed the final 600m of 1000m in 41.2 and Waikeria (Brancacova) was given a leisurely 1000m in 1:14, the last 600m in 43.
