Racing: Our Kitty purring for run at Ellerslie

Our Kitty prepared for Ellerslie on Saturday with a bold workout at Matamata yesterday.

Our Kitty (Ormsby) strode over 1200m on a firm sand in 1:17.2, the last 600m in 37.8. She appears to have trained on well from her bold fresh-up second a month ago and will be hard to beat over 1600 metres on the weekend.

Lady Lip is another ready to improve on a recent placing judging by her work. With trainer Roger Verry in the saddle she partnered The Core (Moody) over 1000m in 1:04.5, the final 600 in 37.5.

Imperial Warrior (P. Brosnan), preparing for the Ellerslie jumps meeting on Friday, went with Royal Offer (Wright) over 1200m in 1:21.5, with the last 600 in 39.5.

Dawdy (S. Bosson) looked bright when running an easy 1000m in 1:10.8, the 600 in 40.8.

Endorse (Rastrick) was not after time over 1200m in 1:28, the last 600 in 41.8, while over the same ground stablemate Tropics (Rastrick) took 1:25.4 and 39.2.

Clifton Prince (McKay) relished his task when sent over 1000m in 1:12, quickening for a final 600m in 38.2. He is thriving as he prepares for a return to racing next month.

Hi Yo Wassup (C. Lammas), who is close to a trial, cut out 1200m in 1:21.2, the 600 in 38.5.

Madison Blues (Hillis) ran a bold 1000m in 1:06.6, the 600 in 37.2, while Dirk (Hercock) and a Danasinga-Benazir filly (Hattori) clocked 1:08.4 and 37.5. Multi Tasker (Teggert) was allowed an easy 1200m in 1:34.2, the 600 in 44.8.

On the all-weather track Markel (Collett) and Rhombus Lad (Davidson) ran along over 1000m in 1:05.4, the last 600 in a smart 36.6.

Galaxy Invader (Davidson) looked promising over 1200m in 1:27.2, the 600 in 39.6.

Mystic Jade (Andrew) left 1000m behind in 1:10.2, the last 600 in 38.5, while Genebel (Collett) ran the last 800m of her work in 54 and the 600 in 38.7.

Maroofity (Van De Molen) enjoyed his final 600m in 37.5, while stablemates Distinctly Secret (Shadbolt) and Thats Tops (Sapsworth) clocked 40.5 and 44.4 respectively.

* Wise Man's Step was in splendid form at Takanini yesterday.

Working 7m out on a heavy No 2 grass, Wise Man's Step finished 1000m in 1:3.5, the last 600 in 38.

Desert Queen ran her 1000m in 1:3.7, the last 600 in 39.2, a good effort late in the session.

Rue Jolie and Lady Of The House galloped strongly through the last 1200m of 1600 in 1:16.6 and 600 in 39.2.

Johnnie Yetton worked pleasingly over 1000m in 1:4.3, the last 600 in 38.8.

Kabikushi Kabigum and Stellar Anne completed 1200m in 1:18.8, the last 600 in 39.8.

In The Rough and Sumijo finished 1000m in 1:5.7, the closing 600 in 39.

Desert Sheikh and Elianto covered 1000m in 1:6, the last 600in 40.* Lord Spectrum and Tempo Bay worked well at Te Awamutu yesterday morning.

Working on the outside of an easy course proper, Lord Spectrum (Casement) and Tempo Bay (Nicholson) were doing their best work at the finish of a 1000 run in 1:8.3, the 600 in a smart 35.1

Rhineoseros (Grylls) and Mr Eight (Hain) were not pushed to record 37.9 for the last 600 of their work.

Lucky Prize (Grylls) worked quietly over 1000m in 1:10.2, the 600 in 39.2.
