With the Donna Logan/Chris Gibbs team winning five races at two local meetings back and three on Saturday, they are going to have a say coming up.
Particularly with Hasselhoof and Valley Girl down to run in the open 1200m.
Donna Logan said she had some chills and thrills through the day.
Thrills: "I loved the way All Roads won the last. That gave us a fuzzy feeling. He won with real authority.
"Oh, and the 2-year-old [Barabas]. He's pretty good - we've always thought that."
The chills? "Five second placings."
Logan was also less than delighted with the results of Candle In The Wind and Zafrenzy (2nd and 4th) in the $30,000 Whangarei Cup.
"Sorry, But I thought the rides could have been better."
Logan also hit a road bump when stewards approached her through the day with a suggestion the stable's horses should be saddled in the racecourse tie-up stalls rather than the nearby tie-ups the stable leased off the club.
She was told "many trainers" have complained to stewards that provided an unfair advantage.
"Because we lease our tie-ups they are actually club tie-ups." Logan told stewards. "It can't be much of an advantage, we had five seconds."
In Flight, a good thing beaten on Saturday, Lord And Master, Finns Halo, Mongolian Falcon and Beaufighter will join Hasselhoof and Valley Girl on Saturday week.
Ladies First added another victory to her near perfect winter campaign with a tenacious performance on her home track.
The Taranaki filly looked to be making hard work of it 500 metres from home, but she dug deep and rallied strongly for a comfortable win in the NZB Finance & Leasing 3YO at New Plymouth on Saturday.
Ladies First's only defeat came at her second appearance and that fourth placing at Te Rapa was also a run full of merit.
"It was against the big boys up north and she still went a very good race," said Lisa Allpress, who has ridden Ladies First in all of her starts.Additional reporting NZ Racing Desk
