Blue Lagoon (No4, R3) just beat a good field at Ellerslie last start only to lose the result in the inquiry room. She meets a useful, but not brilliant field and will be very competitive with Danielle Johnson aboard. Symphonic (No6) is a must for multiple bettors.
Cote D'Or (No7, R4) is a very good mare in the making and is learning fast what the game is all about. She jumps into open company for the first time, but drops from 56kg to 53kg and will take some keeping out. Show The World (No2) has at times mixed his form, but is very capable and with one start since a break makes some appeal. He rarely needs much racing to find form.
Lewis Caroll (No2, R5) has plenty of potential. He did not look that comfortable on the slow track when second at New Plymouth last time and will take beating this time on a better surface and from the rails barrier. Julius (No8) also has plenty of ability.
One of the value runners all day is Odisha (No7, R6). Nothing went right for her last start and you can expect her to finish a lot closer this time. She is twice a winner at Te Rapa. Killarney (No3) will start favourite after a terrific effort to win here last start.
Unless she has lost a leg in the last couple of weeks, Let Me Roar (No9, R7) will be keeping her unbeaten record intact. The stable thought her fitness levels could be vulnerable when she resumed from a spell at Tauranga last start, but she bolted in. She should be close to peak fitness this time and off 53kg it's difficult to see her beaten. Chocante (No7) is a stayer, but stayers can run a big race over 1400m when fresh and don't be surprised if he puts in.
The $200,000 Fiber Fresh Breeders Stakes will be a great contest. Look for Sofia Rosa (No4, R8) to do something close to her best thanks to the introduction of a set of blinkers.
Trainer Stephen Marsh believes the classy mare has not been concentrating and believes the blinkers should fix that issue. Stablemate Thee Auld Floozie (No1) is the one to beat and Rasa Lila (No2) will appreciate the improved conditions. Mime (No3) is a huge threat. Fine race.
The Baker/Forsman stable, on fire lately, can win the A$1m Australian Oaks with Bonneval, winner of her last three. The filly is a tremendous stayer, her only issue could be that at her only start right-handed she hung badly and chocked down at Ellerslie.
Murray Baker says they have worked the filly right-handed many times at Cambridge and there have been no issues. If she handles the track her stamina should get her home. Devise chased her hard in the Oaks at Trentham and trainer Shaune Ritchie says the filly has travelled well and looks very bright for her return challenge.
With just 52kg and Craig Williams aboard. Big Duke should win the A$2 million Sydney Cup.
And, don't be doing anything at 5.15pm when they load Winx into the gates for the Queen Elizabeth.
