Inshelucky came right into calculations for weekend racing when she galloped brilliantly at Matamata yesterday.

Working 23 metres out on a good course proper, Inshelucky (B. Lammas) was asked for a good hitout and responded with the fastest gallop of the session, 1000m in 1:02.2 and the last 600m in
36. She was full of running when she hit the line. Trainer Jim Gibbs has yet to decide whether to run the filly at Awapuni or Te Rapa.

Manawatu Cup candidate Upsetthym (Dowling) turned in a sound final trial when she worked over ground, leaving the last 1200m behind in 1:21.2 and quickening over the final 600m in 38.7.

Darcybee (Nattrass) was unextended over 1000m in 1:06.5, the last 600 in 38.4. Promising three-year-old Two Paddocks (Rastrick) was accompanied by William Tell (Tynan) over 1200m in 1:19.5 and the last 600m in 37.

On the all-weather track Bellevue Lass (Dowling) drew attention to her Te Rapa prospects when she covered 1200m in 1:20.8 and the final 600m in 38.4. Apowwow (Cheshire) did good work over 1000m in 1:5 and 600 in 37.2, while Zergar (Coleman) took 1:07.3 and 38.6.

Better Boy (C. Lammas), who will race at Te Rapa in preference to Awapuni, finished his work with 600m in 40.2. Class Anarchy (Coleman) strode over 1200m in 1:21.5, the 600 in 38.3 and Sparks Will Fly (P. Ormsby) and a Lake Coniston gelding (Gartner) wasted no time when recording 1:18.5 and 36.8.

On the sand, which was easy, Valley Boy (M. Innes) turned in a sound trial for Te Rapa with 1200m in 1:23.6, the last 600 in 39.7. Form runner Temple Hills (Rastrick) was not after time over the same ground in 1:26 and 39.5, while Cool Talk (C. Ormsby) had more pace on when clocking 1:22.6 and 40.5.

Dandridge (McKay) got through 1200m in 1:19.8 and 600m in 37. Brosarm (H. McQuade) took 1:07.8 for 1000m, the 600 in 39.8.

Stravigent (Coleman) wasn't extended over 1200m in 1:26.5, the 600 in 40.3, nor was Tsarina Belle (Rastrick) in running 1:27.6 and 40.6. Screama (Rastrick) and Waitui Bay (Tynan) took 1:06.2 for 1000m and 39 for their last 600, while Pentane (C. Ormsby) had it easy over the same distance in 1:16.2 and 45.8.

* Cog Hill completed his preparation for the Higgins Challenge Stakes at Awapuni tomorrow most satisfactorily at Pukekohe yesterday.

Using a good sand, Cog Hill, on the second round of strong pacework, sprinted 800m in 50.5, the final 600 in 36.2. He looks in outstanding order and should win.

Sideto Emdeca was given the same task and recorded 52.9 for the 800m and 38.6 for the 600, pleasing enough work compared with that of her high-class stablemate. She is a place bet at least in the Manawatu Cup.

Punt Higher, the other Collett-Hapeta horse bound for Awapuni, was allowed an easy 600m in 43.3 to finish his work.

Cruncher dashed the final 600m of his work in 37.

Coup Christchurch was keen to go further in the finish of 600m in 40.6.

On a dead plough, In The Rough covered 800m nicely in 53.1, the last 600 in 38.4. Expect a better race from him tomorrow.

Ima Tycoon went 12000m, timed for only the final 600 in 37, smart time for him in training.

* Slumber enhanced his chances for Manawatu with a solid gallop at Cambridge yesterday morning.

Working on a good plough Slumber (Crawford) travelled nicely alongside stablemate Give and Take (Tata), covering 1000m in 1:5, the final section in 39.

Lucky Governor (Callaway) worked in from the 600m in 42. Gaze (Walsh) was timed from the 600m in an easy 41.1. Penstar (Seguin) completed the final 600m of work in 39.3. Aukay (Clarke) worked over 800m in 57. Swordsman (Hills) was not fully extended over 800m in 56.8 and Abit o' Fun (Hofmann) followed easily in 57.4.

Sunrise (Ropiha) was sent l400m in l:32, the final 600m in 42.l. You Are My Angel (Seguin) ran 600m nicely in 42.
