An uncomplicated approach taken by the country's leading trainers Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman with Gesemi is paying regular winning dividends.
The Cambridge mare's dominant victory in yesterday's Active Electrical Suppliers Cornwall Handicap at Ellerslie was her third in a row and the fourth of her current preparation.
"When maresare in form like her you've just got to keep running them," Forsman said
Gesemi had romped home by five and a half lengths in a Rating 85 event on the same course seven days ago and she was again a commanding winner in her open class debut.
"She had to get more points on board to qualify her for better races later on," Forsman said.
Cameron circled the field across the top and once she shook off Storming The Tower early in the run home it was a done deal and Gesemi coasted clear to win by two and a quarter lengths.
"She likes these kind of tracks and she just loves Ellerslie," Cameron said.
The Kiwifruit Cup at Tauranga on June 20 and the Listed Taumarunui Gold Cup at Te Rapa a fortnight later are two likely winter targets for Gesemi.
Storming The Tower ground away gamely for his second placing and the topweight Pump Up The Volume came on steadily to be a further two lengths back in third. NZ Racing Desk.
