Racing: Follow the Jewels form to clasp tonight's Pick6

Punters chasing tonight's $100,000 terminating Pick6 at Alexandra Park should feast on some Harness Jewels leftovers.

Because those who couldn't win the really big money at Cambridge last Saturday could provide it for their followers tonight.

While none of the Jewels winners will be on show those who are backing up have a huge class edge on their rivals.

Which provides at least one anchor and some great bets as the TAB starts a month of guaranteed $100,000 terminating Pick6s on Friday nights.

The anchor is Stent (R10, No 4), who was one of the unluckiest horses on Jewels day.

He flew home from last of the bunch for second and has claims to being the best 3-year-old trotter in the country right now.

His manners are nearly faultless, as is his Alexandra Park form and even up against smart trotters in Yankeedoosie and Cool Cobber he should win.

The victory would come with two bonuses for him, as it would be penalty-free and also earn him a third Alexandra Park win bonus of half the winning stake.

The pacing feature of the night sees Bettor Dream and Donegal Delight coming off the back of handy runs in the tough 4-year-old races at the Jewels, with the handicaps giving Bettor Dream a possible edge.

They do, however, meet 3-year-old Bettor's Fire, who was a solid sixth in Smolda's 1:52.1 win last Saturday and Stirling Point, who is an interesting returnee to Alexandra Park.

He was a winter star here last season for trainer Barry Purdon and finished second in the Spring Cup so will be winning shortly, his standing-start brilliance even giving him an upset chance tonight.

Bettors Creek in race eight comes off a brave third in Smolda's mega mile last week so only Eridanus would seem to be any danger to him tonight.

Perhaps the Jewels starter dropping the furtherest in class is Rule Like A King (R11, No 8) in the last leg of Pick6.

He pulled way too hard in the 2-year-old pace last Saturday but his win four starts ago on this track was superb and at this stage of the season a good-quality juvenile should beat lower-grade pacers.

While there is no real Jewels form in race seven one of the runs of the day last Saturday points to Freespin dominating this leg.

Last start, it took Border Control the length of the straight to get past him here in a national record for 2200m and Border Control subsequently produced a stunner last week.

Freespin should be a horse capable of winning two or three races this winter if he races through.

That leaves the first leg in which the classy acts are Three Jewels and The Kingston Flyer.

Three Jewels had to burn way too early last start but is a good filly, while The Kingston Flyer had a huge reputation last campaign and should find this grade well within his grasp.

His stablemate and another unlucky at the Jewels, Triumphant Monarch, looks one of the bets of the night in race two and should help boost your bank.
