Racing: Ellerslie ace set to add to record

Shaune Ritchie believes the Ellerslie experience will stand speed merchant He's An Ace in good stead on Sunday.

The Cambridge trainer has an unbeaten record to defend with the 3-year-old, who will shoot for his third straight victory on the track in the Curraghmore 1200.

"It's hard for any horse to win their first start at Ellerslie and he's now had two looks so that's certainly in his favour," Ritchie said.

Ritchie also has high Trentham hopes tomorrow for Snow Secret in the Wellington Cup.

"She might be 12 months off full maturity, but I'm confident she'll run two miles and if there's any chinks in the armour of the favourites she'll find them with only 52kg," he said.

?Jockeys' premiership leader Lisa Allpress copped a 10-day ban at Te Rapa on Wednesday.

Stewards found her guilty of not riding out third placegetter El Pistola to the line and she has been suspended from the end of racing on Monday until February 11.

?Disqualified trainer Lee Hope has unsuccessfully tried to join forces with Danny O'Brien and Mark Kavanagh as they appeal their bans for cobalt doping.

But while Hope was knocked back by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, O'Brien and Kavanagh yesterday had their stay of proceedings extended indefinitely.

This means the pair can continue to train until there is a final determination by VCAT on the lengthy bans for administering cobalt to horses.
