Racing: Dream comes true again in NZ Oaks

Dream About Me, the Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen-trained filly, had no right to win Saturday's $150,000 New Zealand Oaks at Addington, especially after it took her close to 600m to get from the rear of the field to the parked position outside the leader with 1000m to go.

But she did.

Dream About Me once again turned Golden Goddess from a group one hopeful into a bridesmaid, nabbing her stablemate up the passing lane to join Adore Me as a winner of the Nevele R Fillies/New Zealand Oaks.

It was not a perfect day for Dream About Me's mother Splendid Dreams though.

Her celebrated son Christen Me had to bow to Titan Banner, who was outstanding over 3200m in the Winter Cup in his second start for the Purdon/Rasmussen combination.

Titan Banner sat outside Christen Me for the last 700m and had too many guns for the returning star, winning by a neck in 3.59.6 for the 3200m.

More The Better reminded followers of the juvenile pacers that he will be the one to beat at the Harness Jewels next month, thwarting the passing-lane attack from Pacing Major to claim the group one Sires Stakes final.

The All Stars Stables once again trained the trifecta in a major age-grade race, with King Solomon filling third spot.
