Racing: Connections praying for change of luck in SA Derby

Luckless filly Savvy Dreams will have the opportunity to turn her fortunes around in Saturday's group one South Australian Derby.

She performed well in a jump-out over 1600 metres at Morphettville yesterday morning to confirm her place in this weekend's classic.

Savvy Dreams was required to trial in front of the stewards after she had flipped over before the start of last Saturday's group one Schweppes Oaks and was taken out of the race.

"She was about 20 metres behind the gates when she reared up and fell over so she had to jump out to their satisfaction and she did that," said Grant Cullen, who trains the New Zealand Oaks placegetter with Guy Lowry.

"She jumped out over a mile with three others and I couldn't fault her. Neither could Paul Gatt, who has ridden her in a lot of her work and he'll be aboard on Saturday now she's been cleared to start. "

Safely in the field, Savvy Dreams then had the misfortune to draw an outside gate.

"She'll go from barrier 19 - we're not having a great run," Cullen said.

Stablemate Lamborghini has this weekend off and will front up again on Saturday week in the Port Adelaide Cup.

Capable mare Dressedtokill has fashioned a tidy record from limited opportunities, but it's been far from plain sailing for trainer Pam Robson.

"She's been quite a handful at times and you're never quite sure what she's going to do," the Riccarton horsewoman said. "She's a bit of an air head."

Dressedtokill has two wins and a placing from four appearances and will resume in The Hanley Formula Autumn Sprint Championship Qualifier at Ashburton today.

Courtney Barnes, who was successful on the four-year-old daughter of Battle Paint last preparation, will take the mount.

Meanwhile, co-trainer Shane Kennedy has warned punters to ignore Disturbance's last two performances when assessing his chances in the Racing Here Again 7th July Handicap.

"He didn't cop the tracks either time at Riccarton and he's a big horse and couldn't quicken in the ground," he said.

"It's back to a dead track at Ashburton and that will suit him.

Kennedy and Anna Furlong will also be represented by Maui Miss in the Hanley Formula Sprint Qualifier and by Rosaeflora in the Speights Mid Strength Handicap.

"Maui Miss is an on-pace runner and she should go pretty close," Kennedy said.

"The key to Rosaeflora is her strengthening up, she'll have this run and then probably go out."
