A second multimillion-dollar colt has been sold at the Australian Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney.
The colt, by Fastnet Rock, was knocked down to Emirates Park for A$4 million ($4.9 million) yesterday, a day after Black Caviar's half-brother fetched a Southern Hemisphere record A$5 million. The yearling is out ofRiver Dove, a Group One winner of the Oakleigh Plate.
Emirates bloodstock manager Trevor Lobb said he believed the colt was the pick of the sale.
"He's a great athlete, a great walker and he has a great attitude," Lobb said.
Emirates Park is the Australian operation of Dubai businessman Nasser Lootah.
Meanwhile, Waikato Stud made their mark on the opening day of the sale on Tuesday, with a Pins colt realising A$360,000 to the bid of the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
Out of the O'Reilly mare Lucida, he is a half-brother to the VRC Oaks placegetter Placement with their grand-dam the former leading 3-year-old filly Starcent. An O'Reilly filly from their draft who made A$120,000 is out of a half-sister to the group one winner Good Faith.
Other Kiwi breeders to feature included Little Avondale Stud whose Pins colt from Sacred Falls' family went to Paul Moroney for A$120,000, while Trelawney Stud's colt, also by Pins and out of New Zealand Oaks winner Boundless, was bought by Warwick Farm trainer Matthew Smith for A$100,000.
