Cog Hill starred in training on a good sand at Pukekohe yesterday.

Ridden by co-trainer Shane Hapeta, Cog Hill galloped 1200m in preparation for Sunday's feature 1600 at Ellerslie in 1:16.9, the last 600 in 36.5.

He looks to have thrived since his Awapuni race.

In The Rough drew attention
to his chances at Ellerslie tomorrow when dashing 800m with apparent ease in 48.7, the last 600 in 35.5.

Laurette finished 1000m in 1:4.4, the last 600 in 37.1.

Super Alloy and Jiao Dragon cut out 800m in 49.4, the closing 600 in 36.3.

Using a firm grass, 25m out from the nearest markers, Sedecrem showed his readiness for the Railway Handicap by running 1000m with Cruncher in 1:00.6, the last 600 in 38.2.

These times were outstanding in the circumstances.

Abbey Drive galloped 1200m in 1:17, the final 600 in 40.3.* Pentane looked on target for Ellerslie on New Year's Day when he worked impressively at Matamata yesterday.

Galloping 12 metres out on a dead course proper, Pentane (C. Ormsby) was travelling well on the outside of Cut The Cake (Coleman) after 1200m in 1:18.4, the final 600m in 37.4. The work underlined Pentane's prospects for the Dunstan Feeds Championship on the weekend.

Stablemates Temple Hills (C. Ormsby) and Momento (Liu) ran a solid 1200m in 1:16.4, the final 600m in 36.8. Temple Hills is a lightweight candidate for the Rich Hill Mile.

Railway Handicap prospect Devoted (Cheshire) was partnered by Imananabaa (C. Lammas) over 800m in 52.8 and the last 600m in 37.8. Royal Stakes entrants Ciara (Waddell) and Arabian Nights (Ritchie) were comfortable at the end of an even 1200m in 1:20.7, the last 600 in 39.2.

Tinkerbeel (Russell) and Centapin (Dowling) ran over the same ground in 1:17.8 and 38.2, while Bellevue Lass (Ramsay) took 1:16.9 and 38.2. Archilles (Weatherley) and Sandcastle (McFetridge) had pace on throughout 1000m in 1:03.2 and 600 in 37.3.

Illicitly (Russell) cut out 1200m in 1:18.2, the last 600 in 37.8, while Seventh Heaven (Dowling) took 1:19.8 and 38.4. Over 1000m Our Prized Rose (Waddell) clocked 1:04.2 and 37.3 for the last 600m.

On the all-weather track Kristov (T. Thornton) continued his Rich Hill Mile preparation by running the last 1000m of his work in 1:03.8 and the 600 37.2. He looks in excellent order.

On the plough, which was good, Lovemedo (T. Thornton) looked ready for Taupo on Saturday when she led Lady Attire (Carmine) to the finish of a solid 1200m in 1:14.7, the last 600m in 35.8.

Grand Legacy (Moody) and Judgement Day (McFetridge) were also in dashing form when they ran 1200m in 1:15 and the final section in 35.8. Steel Tycoon (Davidson) worked soundly over 1200m in 1:22.4, the last 600 in 37.4.

Over the same ground Total Control (Teggert) took 1:18.4 and 38.4, Stravigent (Coleman) 1:22.4 and 37.8, Bellatrix (Liu) 1:20.2 and 39.4 and Long Tall Texan (P Brosnan) 1:23.9 and 40.8.

Promising two-year-old Mon Reve (B. Lammas) went with The Trickster (C. Lammas) over a smart 1000m in 1:02.8 and 600 in 36.4. Sir Sintillate (P. Ormsby) did good work over the same ground in 1:04.2 and 37.4, while Fiorenza (Tynan) and Screama (Rastrick) clocked 1:03.2 and 36.2.

Volscar (B. Lammas) and Delbury (Sapsworth) were travelling strongly at the end of 1000m in 1:02.8, the 600 in 36.8. Our Kitty (Rastrick) worked in good style over her last 1000m in 1:03.5, the 600m in 37.4.

Made In NZ (Melton) and Linlin (Upston) began steadily to run 1000m in 1:06.8, quickening for a final 600m in 36.4
