Clean Sweep prepared for Woodville on Saturday with a brilliant workout at Matamata yesterday.

Galloping 15 metres out on an easy course proper, Clean Sweep led Viaggio to the end of 1000m in 1:1.9, the last 600 in 36.6. After being balloted out of the Railway Handicap Clean Sweep will
be hard to beat in the Woodville open 1200 metre event, in which she will be ridden by Lisa Cropp.

Octapussy turned in a sound trial for Sunday's Taupo Cup when she worked with Wolf Pack over 1200m in 1:18.4, the final 600 in 37.8. Octapussy showed more like her true worth when second at Rotorua last week and will be hard to beat on the weekend.

Likely Woodville Cup favourite Kristov ran right up to his best work when he covered 1200m on the all-weather track in 1:16.2, the final 600 in 35.6. On the same track Uhuru prepared for the Woodville three-year-old event when leading Logarythm at the end of 1200m in 1:17, the last 600 in 37.4.

Back on the course proper Amira (Ritchie) and Funraad (Allpress) worked well over 1000m in 1:04.5, the 600m in 37. El Bulli (T Harris) covered 1200m in 1:23.5, the 600 in 39.6, while Pulborough (Moody) led an Entrepreneuer gelding (Ong) after 1200m in 1:17.6, the 600 in 38.8.

Lift Off (De Klerk) and Starzam (Rankin) left 1200m behind in 1:20.4, the 600 in 37.8. Camstaad (Rastrick) and Smashing Pants (Tynan) finished together over 1000m in 1:06, the 600 in 37.7. Tea In The Sahara (Teggert) led Danex (Gedge) over 1200m in 1:18.2, the 600 in 39.2.

Kindacross (T Harris) continued his Trentham preparation with 1000m in 1:06.4, the 600 in 39.2.

Milzeel (Gedge) strolled over 1200m in 1:31.6, the 600 in 42.6, while Star Alliance (Gedge) and Bible Class (Pender) took 52.4 for 800m and 37.4 for the last 60.

Poetic (Cheshire) finished off his work with 600m in 40.2.

On the sand, which was good, Patrol (M Brosnan) and Maximabeel (Murray) ran a sound 1200m in 1:20.8, the 600 in 39.5. Jemima Khan (Sapsworth) and Merry Dance (O' Sullivan) covered the same distance in 1:23.6, quickening attractively over the final 600 in 36.8.

Right On Time (Hillis) and Pin Money (Matsuoka) did similar work to record 1:22 and 36.6. Hughie Mulligan (M Brosnan) and Gianni Steffan (Baines) ran a smart 1200m in 1:16.2, the 600 in 37.8.

Etoile Du Nord (Melton), who will race next in the Marton Cup, ran the last 1000m of her work in 1:09.7, the last 600 in 41.5. The Cut (Matsuoka) and Total Control (Hillis) wasted no time over 1000m in 1:1.9, the 600 in 36.8. Milcape (O'Sullivan) and Six Gun (Sapsworth) came in from the 1000m in 1:6.2, the 600 in 39.4.

Armanasco (Moody) was in good form over 1000m in 1:04.8, the final 600 in 36.2. Bocelli (Melton) was not after time over 1200m in 1:26.9, the 600 in 42.7, while Welcome Bay (Wells) took 1:30.2 and 45.8.

On the all-weather track Roger Ramjet (Boyack) took 1:17.4 for 1200m, the last 600 in 38.2. Elmwood Blue (Ritchie) ran 800m in 48.5, the 600 in 37.2, while Jambo (Carston) and a Chief Bearhart colt (Pertab) clocked 50.2 and 37.6.

A smart sprint by Let's Enjoy was the highlight of training on a good plough at Takanini yesterday.

Let's Enjoy finished 800m in 48.4, the last 600 in 35, suggesting prospects in a maiden 1000 at Thames on Saturday.

Justee showed her usual dash to run 1000m in 1:1.7, the last 600 in 36.2.

Great Commission made creditable time for a maiden when running his 1000m in 1:1.8, the final 600 in 38.

Classic Legacy galloped 1200m in 1:16.9, the closing 600 in 37.4.

Manjaro completed 1000m in 1:5.4, running on well over the last 600 in 36.6.

Ima Tycoon covered the last 1200m of 1600 in 1:17.8 and 600 in 38.8.
