Racing: Charles Road brave third

One of the few remaining Kiwi chances in the Melbourne Cup, Sir Charles Road, returned to something like his best form at Bendigo last night.

The Matamata stayer was a brave third behind Red Alto in the Bendigo Cup, closing late after racing midfield.

He along with Cambridge galloper Zacada looks likely to make the field for Tuesday's great race, with Sir Charles Road's performance confirming he had recovered well from being galloped on on Caulfield Cup day.
