Wairarapa boom colt Cauthen has pleased trainer Andrew Campbell with the way he has settled into Victoria ahead of his Australian debut at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
Cauthen impressed experts back home with an 8-length win in his first race at Te Rapa on July 3.
Campbell said Cauthen, whoarrived at Peter Morgan's Whittlesea property last week with Wellington Stakes winner Weissmuller, was looking "enormous".
"We're very happy with the way he has travelled over," Campbell said.
He said he was hoping the Moonee Valley field of 3-year-old colts and geldings didn't run Cauthen off his feet in the 1000m handicap.
"It may be a bit short for him but we have to kick off somewhere. If he's hitting the line well we'll be over the moon," Campbell said.
It won't be a cakewalk for Cauthen because among the the field is the Rick Hore-Lacy-trained Clevadude, winner of his first two starts before his disappointing 14th in the $2 million Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast on January 12.
The Peter Moody-trained Weinholt and Shea Eden's debut Seymour winner Red Samurai were also among nominations taken on Monday.
