The group two Danehill Stakes on Saturday has emerged as a possibility for boom Wairarapa colt Cauthen.
The second favourite for the Caulfield Guineas is nominated for the Danehill (1200m) and the listed Henry Bucks Stakes (1400m) at Flemington and trainer Andrew Campbell said a decision would be made afterhe looked at the entries.
The listed race was the original plan after the colt won at Moonee Valley last start but the group two race would be an attractive option.
"We'll wait and look over the nominations," Campbell said yesterday.
"I've spoken to the owner and the pressure is off us a bit now. We've hopefully qualified for the Caulfield Guineas."
Cauthen was a luckless second on his Australian debut at Moonee Valley last month, before scoring an impressive win at the same track in the McKenzie Stakes last time out.
Campbell is looking forward to getting the colt to Flemington, regardless of which race he runs in. "He's crying out for the bigger tracks."
The trainer said Cauthen had come through his latest win in good order and had tightened up again heading towards the Caulfield Guineas.
