Racing: Bold Heza Chance set to return to winning form

Heza Chance looked ready for a bold effort at Te Awamutu when he worked impressively at Matamata yesterday.

Galloping on the all-weather track with raceday jockey Lisa Allpress in the saddle, Heza Chance was in dashing form over 1200m in 1:14.4, the final 600m in 36.2. Tomorrow's intermediate 1400 metre
event looks ideal for a return to winning form.

Hawera candidate Bellevue Lass was restricted to an easy workout, 1200m in 1:24.2, fog preventing any sectional time. Bellevue Lass is at peak fitness to complete a hat-trick on the weekend.

Rely On Me had pace on throughout 1200m in 1:17.6, while Mr Bojangles and Phillipa Glass went together over the same distance in 1:18.2. Daktari got through a solid workout with his last 1200m taking 1:18.8 and 600 in 37.

On the sand, which was good, Kiwi King showed his fitness for Te Awamutu when accompanied by an Imperial Seal gelding over a sound 1200m in 1:19, the last 600min 37.2.

Viaggio stopped the clock at 1:15 after 1200m, indicating she has trained on well since her last start win. Multi Tasker got through her work well over the same distance in 1:22.6, while Mrs Myth returned 1:19.2 and 37.4 for the final 600m.

Distinctly Secret showed his progress with 1000m in 1:16.2, the 600 in 44.5. Xcellent was another to catch the eye when running his last 1000m in 1:06.2, the 600 in 37.5. Both group one performers are coming to hand well.

Ex Factor and Pinafore cut out 1000m in 1:09.3, the last 600 in 39.8. Melanie and Prize Dream wasted no time over 1200m in 1:16.4, the final 600 in 36.8.

Why Not Me and Waitui Hope ran their 1000m in 1:06.2, the 600 in 37.5. Vinopolis was keen to go faster over 1200m in 1:29.4, the 600 in 39. Dr Klaire got through 1200m in 1:18.8, the 600 in 37.6.

Biddee ran the same distance in 1:25.2, the last 600 in 39.7, while Tabeela clocked 1:23.2 and 39. Cut The Cake began steadily to cover 1000m in 1:09.6 and quickened for a final section in 38.8.

William Tell was deceptive when covering 1200m in 1:16, the last 1000m in 1:02.8.

On the all-weather track Gold Circle and Lesley Marie were paired over 1200m in a smart 1:16.8, while Wally The Leader ran the same distance in 1:20.7 and the last 600 in 37.6.

Boulevardofdreams left 1200m behind in 1:21.2 and Commanche Flyer took 1:28.2.

Shanamann rounded off his preparation for the Te Awamutu Cup in fine style at Cambridge yesterday morning.

Work was done on the No.2 grass, which provided soft footing.

Shanamann was comfortable throughout l200m, running the last l000m in l:ll, the final 600m in 42. He looks in first-class order.

Astaire made the most of the early conditions when sprinting 600m in 38.4. Hijack worked in from the 600m in 42.4. Just Jeff left l000 metres behind in l:7, the final 600m in 40.8.

Le Pulse was under no stress when returning l:l4 for l000m, the last 600m in 42.

Power Fille looked ready to produce her best at Egmont this weekend when sprinting 600m in 40.6. Danz Star, another Egmont candidate, ran l000m in l:l0, quickening over the last 600m in 40.l.

Well-performed Slumber impressed over l000m in l:4, coming home in 39.

Sweet Bourbon returned 4l:6 for 600m. Lyah Boy came in from the l000m easily in l:l2, the concluding 600m in 40.

Working on the sand Hot Date returned 42 for 600 and Straightfromtheheart sprinted the final 400m of his work in 27.2.

Mantra worked well at Te Awamutu, in preparation for the meeting on his hometrack tomorrow.

Working in the middle of a soft No 1 grass, Mantra handled the track conditions with ease to record 1:2.8 for the 1000m, the last 600 in 37.8.

Lord Spectrum covered 1000m in 1:5.9, the 600 in a smart 36.1.

Lucky Prize took 1:6.2 for its 1000m, the 600 in 39.1. Wild Sky and Flight Fighter were doing their best work at the finish of 1000m run in 1:7.5, the 600 in 36.4.

Willie Winit ran 1000m in 1:8.4, the 600 in 40.
