Hot favourite Well Written has secured the perfect barrier draw for Saturday’s $4 million NZB Kiwi at Ellerslie.
The unbeaten filly drew barrier two for the 1500m slot race during Tuesday night’s barrier draw function at the Karaka Sales complex.
It is ideal for her as she has the earlyspeed to use barrier two without jockey Matt Cartwright’s hand being forced, which it could have been had she drawn barrier one.
Plus, it wasn’t just Well Written’s draw that may aid her chances. Two of her key rivals and the potential pace influences in the race, He Who Dares and Asakura, drew the outside two barriers, 13 and 14.
The remaining fields for Saturday’s $8.5m Champions Day meeting will be finalised about 10.30am on Wednesday.
