Racing: Doping trainer disqualified for three years

The Judicial Control Authority has cracked the whip and come down hard on the horse trainer found guilty of administering a banned drug to horses.

Last month the Authority accepted the case brought by Harness Racing New Zealand against Nigel McGrath, and his employees Jamie Keast and Phil Burrows.

In a just-released decision, West Melton trainer Nigel McGrath has been disqualified for three years.

No fine has been imposed, but costs will be sought.

Trainer Phillip Burrows receives a six month ban on the same charge, while James Keast has been fined $2,000 for his involvement.
