Brenden Hall earlier crushed the field in the S9 400m freestyle, winning by seven seconds and lowering his world record by nearly four seconds.
Australia was in fifth place on the medal table at the end of day six with 18 gold, 13 silver and 21 bronze medals.
Hall and Freney's performance meant the swimmers have exceeded their haul from Beijing with four days of competition left.
The nation has collected 11 gold medals at the aquatic centre compared to the nine from China four years ago.
Hall, who lost a leg to DVT as a result of chicken pox as a six-year-old, felt assured of victory only two laps into the eight-lap race.
"I spent the last ten metres just smiling into the wall," he said.
He still has another five events to go but has the challenge of competing in the same category as compatriot and 10-time champion Matthew Cowdrey.
