Paralympics New Zealand has marked "two years to go" until the Tokyo Games by adding to its sponsorship portfolio as the movement's momentum builds.
Tower Insurance has become an official partner, citing a desire to "positively influence perceptions of disabled people and promote a more diverse and inclusive society bysupporting and celebrating the success of New Zealand Paralympians".
The 2020 Paralympics will run from August 25 to September 6, taking place in the same location and venues as the Olympics. An estimated 4,400 athletes are expected to compete in 22 sports.
"The performance levels of para athletes throughout the world have taken a meteoric rise since the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Paralympics, as have viewing figures," PNZ chief executive Fiona Allan said.
"The Rio 2016 broadcast topped four billion globally, and 2.2 million Kiwis tuned in to watch the team win 21 medals, including nine gold.
"In Tokyo, we'll be targeting 22 medals, including 10-14 gold.
Tower chief executive Richard Harding said the values, passion and achievements of New Zealand's Paralympians are inspirational.
"As we transform our business we want to learn from these incredible athletes, help highlight their success and show people that when you put your mind to something, the unachievable can become the achievable."
