The Otago Volts have made the Georgie Pie Super Smash final after their preliminary semifinal clash against the Auckland Aces was abandoned due to rain last night.
The Volts made 165/5 at Yarrow Stadium in New Plymouth, with opener Hamish Rutherford carrying his bat to make an unbeaten 91.
What
was shaping up as a good chase was foiled by rain, however, as the Aces couldn't get onto the park after the innings break.
Weather permitting, the Aces now play the Canterbury Kings tonight in the second semifinal, with the winner facing Otago in Sunday's final.
