Skeleton racer Rhys Thornbury is the best of the Kiwis in action at the Winter Olympics this afternoon.
Through two heats of the skeleton, Thornbury is in eighth overall, 1.58s behind leader Sungbin Yun, and .70 outside the medals.
Listed as the eighth favourite for the event, Thornbury finished the
first heat in 50.90 seconds, good enough for eighth place, before going slightly slower (51.03) in the second heat, claiming tenth spot.
That puts him in eighth overall with two heats to go tomorrow, with the best culmulative times across all four heats deciding the medal positions.
Yun is dominating the event, winning both heats by significant margins to take a handy .74 second lead into tomorrow.
