A quick bite of the best of the action from day 13 at the London 2012 Olympics.
Willers impresses in BMX quarters BMX Track was full of "rad pieces of awesomeness" overnight, as Marc Willers cruised into the semifinals with 1st-2nd-1st finishes in the three heats he was requiredto race. Cruised is probably the wrong term for BMX but he quite literally had that opportunity in his first heat, when the seven riders behind him in the first turn crashed. It was carnage on the track and it claimed New Zealand's other male rider Kurt Pickard. In his third heat, following 5th and 3rd-placed finishes, he got the first straight wrong and went for a huge tumble. He was unable to return for his 4th and 5th heats. Willers and Walker race their best-of-three semifinals in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Wind would help Racing was abandoned at Weymouth today, meaning the medal of the 470 men has been pushed back. Paul Snow-Hansen and Jason Saunders cannot win a medal, but should secure a top five finish. Assuming there is some breeze on the south coast, Jo Aleh and Olivia Powrie will race for gold against the British 470 pair.
No luck for Kiwis in taekwondo Logan Campbell and Robin Cheong both suffered first round defeats in taekwondo. Chong lost her under-57kg bout 6-17 to Egypt's Hedaya Wahba, while eighth-seeded Campbell lost 6-10 to unseeded Ukrainian Hryhorii Husarov.
Mixed results for Newdick Brent Newdick will finish well down the field in the decathlon when he finishes his final event, the 1500m, this morning, with no chance of getting his personal best of 8114 points.
Londoners are sleeping on pavements and queuing for 18 hours, the London Evening Standard screamed on its front page, to get tickets for the final three days of the Olympics. Tickets to Saturday night at the track (Sunday morning NZT) are the most popular, as Mo Farah is going for the 10,000m-5000m double.
Bolt v Blake Usain Bolt will be warming up now. Ring your boss, tell him you've had to take the cat to the vet and get your telly on for a little more than 19s of stardust.
