Olympics: Pie prices get a hike

It could be the greatest tragedy of the 2000 Olympics - the price of a meat pie will double during the Games.

Locals are livid that the pie, the staple diet of Australasian sports fans, will jump from the usual price of $2 to $4 at all Olympic venues.

Washing it down with the traditional beer could also stick in the craw of ticketholders, who will have to hand over $4.80 for a schooner.
