Auckland's Liz Couch has finished 11th in the women's skeleton at the Winter Olympic Games.
Couch, 27, slipped one place from her first run to just slip out of the top 10.
She recorded run times of 53.62 seconds and 54.18sec, for a combined time of one minute 47.80 seconds, in the
difficult conditions at Utah Olympic Park where heavy snow was falling.
Couch, ranked 11 of the 13 athletes heading into the event, had hoped to break into the top 10.
She managed that on her first run, but was overtaken by Canadian Michelle Kelly on her second turn down the ice track.
The winner of the first women's gold medal in skeleton racing was Tristan Gale of the United States, with a combined time of 1:45.11.
