Gary Kubiak has announced his retirement from NFL coaching - less than 12 months after leading the Denver Broncos to victory at Super Bowl 50.
It was reported following Monday's 24-6 win over the Oakland Raiders that Kubiak had told his players he was leaving, and confirmation of the 55-year-old'sdeparture was made official by Denver on Tuesday.
Kubiak subsequently revealed at an emotional press conference that not only was he stepping down as Broncos boss, but he was also "getting out of coaching".
He did insist, though, that his health was fine.
Kubiak suffered a complex migraine on October 9, requiring hospital treatment and causing him to miss one match, and had previously collapsed during a match while in charge of the Houston Texans in 2013.
"You've heard a lot about me the last week, but let me just say I'm doing great, I'm OK," he said.
"But coaching is a very demanding business, a tough business. It's been tough and for the first time I've had to tell myself that you can't do that any more."
Kubiak was appointed Denver coach in January 2015 following spells with Houston and the Baltimore Ravens - where he was offensive coordinator - and led the Broncos to a 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers in last February's Super Bowl.
This campaign has not gone so well, however, with Denver missing out on the post-season after winning nine of 16 matches.
