The NFL says it is still finalising its plans for next year's Super Bowl entertainment.
"It's a Super Bowl tradition to speculate about the performers for the Halftime Show," an NFL spokesman has reportedly said.
"We do not have any announcements to make on what will be another epic show."
Fans are desperately hoping the halftime show hasn't in fact been finalised.
The confirmation of the Los Angeles-based pop-rock act hasn't gone down well in some quarters. Not well at all.
Maroon 5 is set to follow Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Cold Play, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers to perform the halftime show in recent years.
Last year Timberlake returned before the Philadephia Eagles bagged NFL's biggest prize with a 41-33 victory against New England Patriots.
