A promising Australian footballer has been named as the victim of a brutal double shooting in Sydney's inner west on Tuesday.
Parramatta FC has paid tribute to John Odisho — whose life support has been turned off after he was shot in the head.
"It with deep sadness that weshare with you all some devastating news," the club's president David Frendo wrote on Facebook.
"Senior player John Odisho has sadly lost his life in a horrific incident in Five Dock earlier this week.
"John, who returned to Parramatta FC this season was considered a key signing for our 2019 season. On behalf of the Parramatta Melita Eagles Sports Club Board, I offer our heartfelt condolences to John's family, his friends and to all personnel involved with John during his time at our club."
Two men were shot in the deadly targeted ambush at Five Dock on Tuesday morning.
Odisho, 25, was shot in the head and taken to Westmead Hospital for emergency treatment. He died shortly after admission, having his life support switched off.
His 24-year-old relative was shot in the shoulder and remains in hospital in a stable condition.
NSW Police says emergency services were called to a unit on East Street about 3.45am, following reports of possible shots fired.
Shortly after, one of the alleged attackers, a 28-year-old man, handed himself in to Auburn Hospital with a gunshot wound to the stomach.
"As part of their inquiries, detectives will examine if a 28-year-old man who presented to Auburn Hospital suffering a gunshot wound to his stomach about 4am, is connected to the shooting," NSW Police said in a statement.

However, another man involved in the shooting is still wanted by police.
CCTV footage obtained by police shows one of the alleged shooters wearing high-visibility clothing as he ran from the scene.
