Halfback TJ Perenara is ready to talk it over with his All Blacks teammates.
The All Blacks squad is going through their video review of the shock loss to the Springboks in Buenos Aires today as they prepare for Sunday's clash with Argentina.
Perenara says he's already reviewed the game on his own but it was tough not be able to chat with his team-mates about aspects of the defeat after he watched it.
"There was a lot of review going in. There was a lot of 'how can we be better in those situations'. Not being around the boys to have those discussions – a lot of it being self talk or talking to my dad or my cousin who aren't in the environment was a little bit tough. It's been nice being back in and having those discussions already," the All Blacks halfback said.
Perenara was on the field in the closing stages of the 36-34 defeat in Wellington and continues to defend the team's decision to run the ball in the dying stages instead of searching for a dropped goal.
"A couple of decision making things that if we had scored in the end there we probably wouldn't' be having this discussion but there are opportunities to take a drop goal which a lot of people have highlighted," Perenara said.
"In all honesty, the winger makes the play on D-Mac (Damian McKenzie). If he doesn't make that play, we walk in.
"It's tough when you lose those sorts of games. Hindsight's a beautiful thing because you can look back on it and be like 'man we should have dropped a kick' but then if we dropped a kick and missed it and there's a three on two then we're like 'man we should have taken the three on two'. That's what sport is. It's the heat of the battle and you make those decisions and you learn from them hopefully."
