Samu Kerevi is facing a long stint on the sidelines after undergoing surgery to a repair ruptured bicep.

The Wallabies and Reds centre suffered in the injury in the Reds loss against the Blues in Auckland at the weekend, and will be sidelined for 12-16 weeks.

The injury comes at a poor time for the 24-year-old, who looked to finally have secured his spot in the Wallabies starting XV outside Bernard Foley and Kurtley Beale.

This year's Rugby Championship begins in August, with the Wallabies meeting the All Blacks in the opening match of the competition.
