Former Toyota Racing Series champ Mitch Evans has finished a brilliant fourth in the latest round of the 2016-'17 FIA Formula E series in Mexico - the first points finish, let alone top five, for his Panasonic Jaguar Racing team.
Evans earned his top-five finish after managing to keep his nose clean for the majority of the race. Driving for the newly formed Jaguar squad, he started the race from 11th. He then fought into the top 10 after avoiding a close lap-one clash between Stephane Sarrazin and Lucas di Grassi.
He then positioned himself in eighth for much of the race, behind Jaguar teammate Adam Carroll. However, as the pit cycle rolled around, his race got a whole lot more chaotic.
Evans and Carroll both initially dropped outside the top 10 following their stops, as numerous cars rolled the dice on strategy. Leading the risk takers was lap-one crasher di Grassi and Faraday Future's Jerome D'Ambrosio.
Di Grassi had pitted early, and was able to leap-frog most of the field due to the placement of some advantageous safety cars. D'Ambrosio meanwhile simply didn't stop, everyone questioning when, or if, he would at all.
