New Zealand fans will have the opportunity to take a close-up look of where our top athletes will be competing at next month's Olympic Games.

Google has launched street view imagery of Rio's Olympic venues, allowing fans inside the stadiums without getting on a plane.

More than 190 New Zealanders across 18 sports, from rowing to BMX, will compete at this year's Games.

The technology allows viewers to take a walk on the green where Lydia Ko will tee off; stand in the centre of the Olympic Stadium where Valerie Adams will compete for her third Olympic gold; or hang poolside at the Aquatics Centre where Lauren Boyle will be chasing New Zealand's first Olympic swimming medal in 20 years.
