Kiwi heptathlete Portia Bing has made a solid start to her Olympic qualifying campaign.
She's finished second at the combined events challenge in Florence with 5987 points.
It's more than 200 points short of the A Rio entry standard, but she managed personal bests in the 800 metres and javelin.
London Olympian Brent Newdick finished ninth in the decathlon, almost 1000 points short of the A standard.
