Norwich City striker Steven Naismith has been caught red handed playing the man during his side's relegation clash with Newcastle United.

Standing at 5ft 10in Naismith needs every advantage he can get when it comes to attacking corners but the manner in which he tried to gain the edge over Newcastle defender Daryl Janmaat was certainly unorthodox.

With Norwich in need of a goal, the score still 0-0 and less than 10 minutes to go before half-time Naismith and Janmaat were engaged in a tussle prior to a Canaries' corner.

With the Newcastle defender a little too close for his liking, the Scottish front-man appears to try and unnerve his marker corner by tickling the Dutchman's crotch.

Janmaat looks a little taken aback by Naismith's playful handiwork which was not spotted by referee Mike Dean.

Naismith's 'tickle' revives memories of another incident where a Magpies player was on the receiving end of some manhandling.

Before English football's top tier became the Premier League, during Wimbledon's Crazy Gang heyday back in 1988, Vinnie Jones' was pictured painfully squeezing Paul Gascoigne's crotch.

Gascoigne opened up about the incident last year, telling ITV's Good Morning Britain: 'I remember after the game, I was still shaking, I was in shock.

'I couldn't believe what had just happened, do you know what I mean? I didn't want to get pushed about.

'I never ever hurt anyone, I just gave him a little shove and honestly talk about nearly losing your family allowance, it was incredible.'
