MELBOURNE - Jockey Michael Rodd says topweight Catapulted has done everything right for his return to racing in tomorrow's Group Three Rubiton Stakes at Caulfield.
The Catbird five-year-old, prepared by Mark Kavanagh, was spelled after finishing ninth to Whitefriars on an unsuitably heavy track in the Group Two Salinger Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on Derby Day.
But the gelding has a terrific first-up record winning three races and finishing second twice from five tries.
"He's flying. He's had a couple of really nice jumpouts at Flemington and he always does his best," Rodd said.
"When he's out there he's always doing 110 per cent and he's got form around Hay List which is not bad form.
"There are a few races in mind for him this preparation.
"But he's definitely going to perform well first-up."
The winner of nine of his 18 starts with four seconds, Catapulted chased Group One Manikato Stakes winner Hay List home twice last spring, finishing runner-up to the imposing sprinter at Group level.
Catapulted is A$4.60 favourite with TAB Sportsbet ahead of Avenue at A$5, Solar Charged (A$5.50), Faster Son (A$7.50), Reward For Effort (A$8) with Winter King at A$9 and Acorns next best at A$12.
