New book will reveal dead NFL star Aaron Hernandez's time in prison

The full details of former NFL star Aaron Hernandez's rise and fall will be revealed in a new book.

Hernandez, who had a $40 million contract with the New England Patriots, was later found guilty of the murder of Odin Lloyd before he killed himself in prison.

Award-winning thriller author, James Patterson, will soon release his latest book which goes behind the scenes at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Centre in Massachusetts, where Hernandez spent the final months of his troubled life.

Patterson conducted interviews with Hernandez's family, friends, teammates, lawmen and inmates in order to get the full story on the former athlete, reported The Sun.

The New York Times recently published a series of revelations from the book which included dark chapters of Hernandez's time behind bars.

When he first went to jail, guards had been worried Hernandez would need protection as a high-profile inmate who could be targeted.

Instead, Hernandez quickly became the aggressor on a number of occasions, and became a member of the notorious Bloods gang.

Hernandez was said to have started fights and apparently threatened to kill an officer after a meal was denied.

In 10 months at Massachusetts' Bristol County jail, Hernandez spent 120 days in solitary confinement as punishment for his violence.

As time passed, Hernandez struck a relationship with Sheriff Thomas Hodgson, who introducedhim to the Bible.

As a result, Hernandez had a change in demeanour and his fiancée , Shayanna Jenkins, said his mood had changed dramatically.

However, the sheriff was accused of "self-promotion and non-stop publicity" by the athletes lawyers who eventually had Hernandez moved.

Five days after being found guilty for murder on April 14, 2017, Hernandez was found dead in his cell. He was 27.

He had written "John 3:16" on his forehead with the Bible next to him left open at the verse - "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.".
