Strong defence in mid-court has spoiled the minimal ball South Africa have managed to get their hands on, while accurate shooting by Maria Tutaia has kept the score ticking over for the Ferns.

South Africa got physical in the second quarter and van Dyk came in for some attention, particularly from goal defence Leigh-Ann Zackey, who was penalised for elbowing.
There was also some drama for the Ferns when captain Adine Wilson pulled up clutching her ankle. However, after a short hold-up Wilson was back on her feet.

It was the former South African, now Silver Fern, Irene van Dyk that did the damage in the first quarter for New Zealand.
South Africa took over five minutes to score their first goal - by which time the Ferns had nine - and it took another five minutes befoire they scored their second.
South Africa's shooting circle was shut down with a myriad of passes off target, while at the other end van Dyk was being fed and slotted goal after goal.
The Ferns were ferocious in defence and South African centre Sinnikiwe Malusi took a couple of nasty tumbles in what proved to be a bruising quarter.

The Auckland crowd is amped for the Silver Ferns' quarterfinal against South Africa.
A rapturous cheer went up as the home side took the court for their warm-up.
There had previously been a good crowd present to watch Jamaica beat Samoa 73 - 42, but the crowd is now beginning to swell ahead of the Southern Hemisphere match-up.

Australia will play England in the semifinals after demolishing the Cook Islands 90 - 22 at the Netball World Championships today.
The tournament has been characterised by runaway scores with England beating Malawi 81 - 37, New Zealand beating Botswana 76 - 20 and Australia beating Samoa 82 - 26, although the smaller crowd watching court two were treated to a thriller when Barbados beat Singapore by one goal.
Australia, noticably taller across the court, kept up a blistering assault and their attack and defensive combinations clicked into place.
The crowd was speckled with green and gold who cheered "Ozzie, Ozzie, Ozzie" whenever the opportunity presented itself.
The Cooks struggled to string passes together after upsetting Fiji earlier this week.
But Cook Islands fan Robert Simon had not given up at halftime, despite the score board in Australia's favour 46 - 12.
"That was a big upset for Fiji. It was very important because Fiji were the gold medalists at the South Pacific Games and we came fourth," Simon said.
Simon and three other friends have travelled from the Cook Islands to see their team play.
"Australia is the second best team in the world. They have the facilities and the training programmes. They put players in the Institute of Sport. We just throw coconuts and run up and down the sand," Simon said.
He said the coconuts weigh 1.5kg and are good for training.

It's the business end of the tournament today for the top eight teams but it's the lower ranked sides who have been turning on the action.
Two thrillers have already been played out this afternoon with Botswana just pipping Trinidad & Tobago 39-38 and Barbados holding off Singapore in another one-point game 44-43.
Scotland also dispatched of Malaysia 64-40, while England are the first top eight team to book semifinal spot with their 81-37 win over Malawi.
