Despite not having lost a quarter to the Pulse all season the Southern Steel are taking nothing for granted ahead of the ANZ Premiership final.
"Any team is going to come out hungry and we're going to be the same. It'll be whoever can put out the most consistent 60 minute performance that will take home the trophy", said Southern Steel midcourter Shannon Francois
The Steel have won all three regular season games against the Pulse. The first two games by a margin of 13 and the last meeting by a whopping 36 goals.
But Francois remained adamant that past results counted for little.
"It's going to be a really exciting game for the fans. Throughout the court we're matched pretty well...It's going to be a whole other intensity with more on the line - it's going to be epic".
The key for the Pulse will be stemming the flow of ball into Steel shooter Jhaniele Fowler-Reid, but the Steel are aware of what they will probably try to do.
"Their defensive line-up is very agile and they confuse the space really well. They're going to put a lot of pressure on outside as well as inside to try and force us to misplace our feeds into Jhaniele and stop the ball before it gets there", Francois said.
If there is one thing that the Southern Steel are sure of, it's that their fans will do everything they can to get them over the line.
"The fans are going to come out in their masses; everyone has been so supportive throughout the year, especially in the last couple of weeks with everything we've had to deal with. I think that's definitely going to be the extra support we need and they'll do everything they can to help us get over the line."
